today was quite a nice day.
parade in e morning went quite well, other than the part where i cocked up on the way up the stairs cos i lost my timing. bah. a big big thank you to everyone that made the parade possible, although it seems to me that many ppl don't appreciate parades. nvm. they'll learn in NS. a specially big thank you to the president of the flag party, shen xiang, who went around fighting for our rights(lmao) and making sure everything went well and doing all the backstage work. thank you. videos + pictures will come at a later date.
and damn the lousy shit emcee(ryan i think) for saying my name wrongly. IT'S LEE JIA JIE, NOT LIM JIA JIE U PIECE OF SHIT. damn you. spoil my day. bah.
den came the fund raise/fun race shit.
fund raise + fun race = sian half.
there were a few flaws that the committee weren't able to foresee while planning this event. here's a few.
1)for one, the 2 agendas were conflicting. at one point of time i felt like finishing the face asap and gettng back to sch, and the next second i wanted to fill up the tin as full as possible which apparently, required an amount of time.
2)when they said "race" i had the impression that they were going to give us a map and expect us to find our way around in the shortest time possible. i had no idea we had a 'tour guide' assigned to us that lead the way around. walking slowly, may i add. i felt like a dog without a leash being dragged around the place without a purpose.
3)when there's a designated route for a fund raising project, i would say it's the organiser's responsibility to ensure there are people around to donate. no one walks the streets of little india on nat day eve. and hell, not at 10am in the morning.
4)communication's an important tool in a large scale event. so when we get back to sch at the supposedly reporting time at 1230 hrs to find everyone in a performance that's about to end in 15 mins, it's called a communcation breakdown.
5)90% of indians i asked for donations declined to do so or just decided to walk away. maybe little india isn't exactly the best place to do flag day.
i guess i really shouldn't be complaining. at least i dont have an econs test on nat day eve.
