just keep running

Okay I'm here to blog about ATC! But I haven't got all the pictures, I kinda wanted some that's with the photographer of NTU. =&

I'm kinda lazy to type. A picture says a thousand words.

I was kinda messed up by the singlet cos I was worried it'd be as messed up as last year's, but apparently this year they got better.

Yep so with that, we were flagged off at 9.45 with 27km ahead of us.

this was taken after, that's why we look so cool.

Yep so basically, we ran from Pasir Ris(PS) MRT to PS Park, where we kayaked out to find 6 markers and back. After that was a 5km(not too sure, I'm bad at distances) to the trail cycling route, where we(or rather, I) made the first mistake. Once out of the water I tried to gather my bearings when I saw a team wearing bright red shorts running towards right.

hmmm *JC. Seems reliable. Follow!

Apparently *JC were in the wrong direction. So after 10mins or so of running, we turned around to the right direction and continued following the map, where we eventually ended up in rural SG.(I had no idea where the hell we were) Then we had trail biking, which was really trail biking. My ass just went thump thump thump. But that went over, and we went on to the trail running section that was supposed to consist of the river crossing and tunneling also. By then I had 2 gel packs down.

And a lot of water too. Halfway along I had to stop and relive myself in the bushes while worrying about the team behind catching up.

Then came the river crossing, which was smth like a cargo net draped over a river but folded up. So you had to just get on the damn net, open it up and go over. Kinda shaky, but it was fun.

Then came more running, by then it was running along bushes and lallang as tall as a human + uphill too. The scenery along the way was kinda cool, hard to find in urban SG. But anyway, so we ran and ran and ran...

Until tunneling. Kinda boring, just cross the tunnel full of mud. By then I saw the first sign of civilization(roads) since the race started, gathered we were somewhere in Tamp. Then we went to the next checkpoint at Tamp Ikea. By then I had cramps at my calf alr.

The rest of the race was pretty mundane, from Tamp Ikea to PS Park via the drain den back to PS MRT. We kinda walked half the race away. But it was still a good experience.

My watch says 5 hrs 5 mins, but after deducting waiting time and all, my team took 4hrs 35 mins, coming in 18th out of 43 teams. Not too bad, considering we didn't really train. Lol. And the team number was IS18. Lol.

I was clever enough not to kill my Mizuno on this race, so I wore my cheap NB instead.

Before.

Which was a good decision.

After.

I kinda earned myself a "war scar" during the kayaking cos I dunno, my life vest wasn't on properly?

And HA I won myself smth cos the emcee was giving some PowerBreathe thing and the qn was really dumb and I was really near him, so ya I kinda went ahead. =x

His name is Eugene and I dunno wtf he's doing in this pic.

Well anyway, turns out this PowerBreathe this is a "dumbell for the lungs" or smth like that. I didn't really think much of it cos, it like plastic and all.

Until I saw THIS.

It reads "OFFICIAL INSPIRATORY MUSCLE TRAINER FOR IRONMAN."

THIS IS FATE.

Well then yeah, the race ended and everyone was happy and all and dancing around with IJC and CJC and God knows what else. Lol.

Team NYODAC! Or at least half of it.

After rest.

3/4 of IS18.

Snr Terrence, us and err.. IJ intruder?

The emcee Eugene.

And the best part. RED BULL.

But it wasn't the drink. It was..

Nvm.

NTU ODAC pls upload the pics you all have leh. Ppl waiting leh!

Well.. ya. That's it. MYE in 1.5 weeks. I wanna watch Transformers.

Bye.
